It's now my 2nd time to celebrate the Spring festival here. The first time was in 2011 with my first ever student (and also my friend) that I taught, and her family.
This new year's eve I celebrated it with one of my best friends here, Lieo, and her family. Before dinner started, her family took some official-like photos, very structured, but actually very nice. And it felt nice that they included me in their family pics too; a warm feeling. I went home before midnight, and felt a little sad to be by myself while outside it sounded (and looked like) there was a war going on. It's a strange kind of feeling the Chinese new year - it has the quietest, yet noisiest atmosphere at the same time, if that makes any kind of sense at all? I mean, it's kind of like our Christmas - pretty much every shop is closed, but everywhere around there are all kinds of parties going on.
Christmas time was a different one.
Before Christmas, I found out I had a chronic illness, so that's been a bit to deal with, and on top of that, have been ill up until now with varying colds and infections... So, hasn't necessarily been the nicest start to the year.
Anyway, the Chinese New Year has began, soooo, that means I have an excuse to begin again - re-think my resolutions for the year, and put them into place. No biggie (and definitely not that interesting), but one of my resolutions is to get back on track with my health, and thus feel better, thus be HAPPY!
What are your resolutions for this year??
Happy year of the snake to you!
